Meteor Garden (Hana Yori Dango)

Adapted from the spunky Japanese manga series by Kamio Youko, this 20-parter Taiwanese drama Meteor Garden is not your usual sweet story of teenage romance.

Sixteen-year-old Shancai is a new student at Ying De College, an exclusive high school attended by children of the society's rich.

Feeling uncomfortable and out of place amongst the snobbish rich kids, Shancai cannot wait for the 2 years to pass when she will graduate. She vows to get through her study life by keeping a low profile. Things become brighter for her when she finds a new friend in Lizhen, but only temporarily. Shancai gets herself into hot soup when she unwittingly crosses the path of the F4 when she tries to stand up for Lizhen who is being bullied by the F4.

The much-feared F4, being the richest kids in the school, practically rule the entire school body. Nobody messes with them as they march around the school unchallenged by neither teacher nor student. School rules, dress codes, classes? Try telling that to the F4 and risk a beating up. The leader of F4 is a hotheaded guy named Daoming Si. Nobody dares go against him for fear of incurring his wrath, which is well known. Whoever who steps on his tail had better start packing as the bad-tempered Daoming Si obviously has a habit of letting his anger known. He does this by placing a red tag on the locker of his victim, signifying that the victim has offended the F4. What follows is a mass conspiracy of the entire school body to make the victim suffer.

Shancai's not keeping Huaze Lei at arm's length

Shancai unfortunately happens to be 'red-tagged' by the F4. She tries to fend off the abuses at first but very soon, the strong-willed young lady surprises herself and the F4 when she finds the strength and guts to stand up against the tyrants. Her unexpected reaction spurs Daoming Si's interest and he develops a crush on her. Shancai shows little interest but is instead drawn to another F4 member, the quiet violin player Huaze Lei.

Her attraction to Huaze Lei causes ripples in the relationship between the 2 F4 members Huaze Lei and Daoming Si. How will Shancai cope with Daoming Si's advances while letting Huaze Lei know that she fancies him?

Shancai comes from a very poor family but the bright young lady makes it to the prestigious school Eitoku Gakuen. At first determined to keep a low profile, she swallowed her pride and tolerated the abuse and bullying that came her way after she was red-tagged by the F4. But she could take it no more and decides to stand up to all the bullying, despite her innermost fears. Guys, watch out! This sweet-looking lady is no doormat and can pull some punches. Shancai finds herself caught between 2 F4s - the gang leader Daoming Si and the reserved and sensitive Huaze Lei.

He's afraid of no one except his sister and is attracted to Shancai because her strength and fearlessness remind him of her.

Eighteen-year-old Huaze Lei's quiet, melancholy nature sets him poles apart from Daoming Si and the other F4 members. Groomed from young to be the heir to his family's business by his strict father, Huze Lei is an introvert who turns to violin player to express his true feelings. He spends most of his time out of class and can be spotted at his school staircase, often seen staring into space and lost in his own world. But perhaps it's his chivalrous and compassionate nature (He's always helping Shancai out of difficult situations) which has set Shancai's heart a-fluttering.

The Casanova of the group is long-tressed Ximen. Playful and flirtatious, he likes to hit on pretty girls. He is pals with Meizuo and together they love to gang up to tease Shancai and Daoming Si and plot to bring them together. He likes to call Shancai 'virgin girl' over an incident.
