 Fashion
aficionados can make a beeline to (not an Orchard Road boutique
but) Asian Civilisation Musuem at Empress Place. Why? It's
because an exhibition entitled The World of Jean Paul Gaultier
(part of Singapore's Fashion Festival 2002) is currently being
held there.
To
get everyone in the mood, the ushers will help all visitors
put on white gowns. The visitors can then add on neon-coloured
accessories (funky glasses, anyone?) to make their individual
fashion statements. Upon entering the exhibition, visitors
get to walk through galleries where JPG gowns are put on display
like art pieces -- you can take a peek into the world of the
French designer and see how feathers, leather, silk, denim,
sequins and other materials are put to creative use.
There
are also video clips of models walking down runways in JPG
garb. And you could be just like one of them models! The highlight
of the exhibition is a chance to have your picture taken of
your transformed self -- thanks to some innovative photography
and lighting.
The
exhibition is ongoing at the Asian Civilisation Museum (Empress
Place) from March 20 to April 3, 11am to 6pm daily.
