Power
Office Girls or Shomuni, which means general affairs
in Japanese, brings into focus the ordeals of six women
in a fictitious trading firm's Section No. 2 of General
Affairs, deemed as the scourge of the pretty OL (office
lady) pack.
They
are despised by their co-workers and superiors, particularly
the dorky personnel managers, who think they are a waste
of money on the payroll as this quirky sextet do not
take company goals as serious as the rest do.

Sawako
Tsukahara (Kotomi Kyono)
Sawako
was transferred to the General Affairs Section No. 2
as a demotion for revealing an affair of one of her
superiors. She finds her new duties demeaning, as she
feels she is often looked down upon by her co-workers
and nearly everyone else.
She
secretly adores Tomohiro Ukyo and considers him to be
the only man she ever really loved, yet she can't bring
herself to tell him so for fear of rejection as well
as a strong rival -- secretariat leader Misono Sugita.

Chinatsu
Tsuboi (Makiko Esumi)
Chinatsu
is a veteran OL who was probably downgraded to General
Affairs Section No. 2 for being outspoken and rugged.
Yet these qualities made her the forelady of the section.
She has a knack for speaking her mind on how work should
be enforced, and refuses to kowtow to anyone and inspires
her peers to do the same.
Sawako
is horrified to find out about Chinatsu's main hobby
of street walking and unofficial policy of sitting the
Section staff in order of bedded men (Chinatsu has 1000+,
Sawako has 0). Chinatsu also despises Misono Sugita
for not giving her credit in the work she does.

Kana Miyashita (Atsuko Sakurai)
Probably
all Kana ever wanted out of her life was to be the Goddess
of sexual temptation and many men outside the Section
think that she is just that. In fact, the only reason
she's employed in the first place is to satisfy the
company top men in that aspect.
Kana
hardly has anything bad to say about people, and she
does her job without complaining. Men often find Kana's
raw beauty intimidating, which is why she keeps her
mouth shut when she's with her peers in action so as
not to attract attention.

Azusa
Tokunaga (Keiko Toda)
At
34, Azusa is the oldest General Affairs employee and
as such, she knows very well when to speak and when
to enforce the will of others. Like everyone in the
Section, she enjoys being an enforcer, and rarely has
anything bad to say about anything.
She
and Chinatsu, the other senior member, despise Misono
Sugita for similar reasons. Her hobby is monitoring
the stock market, where she has some holdings.

Rie
Himukai (Yumiko Takahashi)
When
the lights go out she becomes Christine Himukai, world-renowned
psychic who operates from a little street corner. But
most of the time, Rie Himukai is usually serious but
soft-spoken. She rarely laughs and most of the time,
when her paranormal powers possess her, she can predict
what will happen next, which are surprisingly accurate.

Ume
Marubashi (Mai Hosho)
If
Chinatsu excelled in amateur wrestling and the like,
Ume excelled in calculus and the like. How did she end
up in the cursed Section in the first place? It was
said that she made the mistake of not considering the
consequences of her supposedly brilliant ideas and bragging
about it.

Koji
Inoue (Leo Morimoto)
Mr.
Inoue is the General Section No. 2 mousely boss, a taciturn
and affable old man whose position is merely nominal.
He spends most of the day at his desk, cuddling and
feeding the cat that sleeps under it.

Misono
Sugita (Naho Toda)
Misono
is the leader of the secretarial section, which is under
the direct control of the Directorate. She ardently
despises the General Affairs girls. She despises Chinatsu
for being their voice and Sawako for being in the way
of her feelings for Tomohiro Ukyo.
